School ended on Tuesday for the Kindergartner's and today marked the beginning of summer for the rest of the school. Ethan's birthday is in July and he informed me on Friday that I had not celebrated him in school, and there was only one day left to do it. His teacher agreed to let me do a last minute summer birthday snack as long as it was something that could be quickly passed out and consumed at 8:30 am. I came up with these... rice crispy treats cut out with a circle cookie cutter, placed on a lollipop stick, base coated with white chocolate, and swirlled with red and blue chocolate. I tied a little red ribbon on the stick to finish off the lollipop look. I made a white chocolate plaque in a 6" cake pan and wrote on it with red frosting (so the kids would know who this fabulous treat was for :) Ethan says they were a hit! TFL

Uploading Cake Pictures
I spent a few hours loading images to photobucket tonight and am now trying to put a few cake pictures up on here - feeling very technologically challenged at the moment - wish me luck :)
If all goes right, you should see...
... a shield I made, which was inspired by the Percy Jackson movie. It is a 16" chocolate chip cookie covered with a rice crispy treat, covered with fondant, stamped with a pattern then accented with royal icing "warriors" and other fondant decorations. The whole thing was then airbrushed with edible bronze food color....
... a guitar made of cake which is covered with chocolate and white fondant then brushed with food coloring for a wood grain effect. Accents are made of modeling chocolate, fondant, licorice laces (for the strings), royal icing, and butter cream icing.
